Castle of Tiedra

Castle from the end of the s. XII. The first historical mention about the Castle dates back to 1072 in the time of Sancho II of Castile, when he orders the Cid to meet Dona Urraca.

The present castle has its origin in a defensive tower of end of Century XII located next to a corner of the fence of repopulation. In the S.XIV it is closed around the tower with a wall that connects with the wall of the town.

The oldest part corresponds to the fronts north and west, taking advantage of the canvases of the wall on the hill. The good stonework and the layout of the doors date this part towards the year 1200. The tower of the homage was commanded to raise at the end of that century by Alfonso de Meneses.
