Cristina Iglesias. Plaza del Ayuntamiento
Conceived as a
journey into the heart of the city, Iglesias' work takes visitors from a
mudéjar water tower, Torre del Agua,
within an eighteenth century weapons factory complex now contained
within a university campus, along the banks of the river to Plaza del Ayuntamiento, one of the city's main public spaces on which stands its principal landmark, the cathedral, and then to a hidden place within Convento Santa Clara, a place not normally open for visitors.
Plaza del
Ayuntamiento (Town Hall Square) is one of Toledo's prinicipal public
spaces and also contains its main landmark, a cathedral built between
the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries on the site of the Moorish Great
Mosque.
