La Iglesia parroquial de San Pedro se alza en el barrio de
Rucoba. Fue en la antigüedad Monasterio y hacia el año 1500 se comienza a
construir y convertir en iglesia, con el transcurso de los años fueron
añadiéndose capillas, hasta formar un templo de tres naves. El edificio
de piedra, como se ha dicho, consta de tres naves con bóveda de crucería
gótica tardía. La entrada principal es una portada de estilo herreriano
con un retablo de piedra de dos cuerpos y de diseño novedoso en la
época. El altar y retablo mayor fue construido en el siglo XVIII
sustituyendo al antiguo retablo. El templo alberga numerosas obras
artísticas, la escultura de mayor relevancia es sin duda El Santo Cristo de la Agonía.
Haciendo un recorrido por la iglesia de San Pedro y citando de una manera breve la ornamentación:
- En el exterior de la iglesia y en la portada, se encuentran las figuras de San Pedro -en el centro- y del Apóstol Santiago y San Pablo a los extremos, las tres esculturas, labradas en piedra. El pórtico, quedó reformado en 1892. La torre es de tres cuerpos, donde sólo destacan los arcos de medio punto de las troneras y la escalera interior de caracol.
