El solar es
un rectángulo situado entre el Paseo de la Castellana y la calle Serrano. En
este edificio buscamos diferentes objetivos. Para conseguir una elasticidad
interior, de planta, tiene los soportes de hormigón en las fachadas y los
forjados están hechos con unas vigas de muy poco canto. Encima de estas vigas
pretensadas tipo Preflex se coloca una losa armada de hormigón muy fina. Se
adoptó un módulo general de 1,20 x 0,90 m. para todo el edificio. Uno de los problemas
era la pequeña altura libre entre pisos. Para conseguir una buena
solución, había que suprimir los cielos rasos; al final el aire acondicionado,
que es el principal volumen del cielo raso, sube por unos conductos que están
en la fachada y suministran el agua caliente y fría y el aire a unos aparatos
que hay en los antepecho
Este
edificio produjo cierto escándalo en Madrid porque lo llamaban la Cafetera y
otros calificativo
Posiblemente este edificio sea el primero en llevar con éxito el uso del
aire industrial y la modulación de elelmetos, y de la tan recurrente en
estos últimos años alta tecnología. Corrales y Molezún rompen con el
tradicional uso miesiano del hierro y el cristal para liberarlo de la
rigidez con la que se usa en las grandes construcciones en altura

.............. la piel de aluminio anodizado cambia de color con la luz, la fachada
de mediodía tiene unas gafas atérmicas para evitar el calor y, para
conseguir plantas diáfanas y flexibles (y así poder colocar despachos al
antojo), los pilares se sacaron al exterior. También el aire
acondicionado se colocó en grandes tubos exteriores que marcan el ritmo
de la obra; los sacaron para ganar la altura de los falsos techos y
poder meter una planta más sin sobrepasar la cota máxima permitida.

Monumentos urbanos
Recoge una rica base de datos de casi 2.000
monumentos basada en la relación municipal de elementos conmemorativos
urbanos de la capital, dividida en 10 categorías que abarcan puentes,
esculturas, fuentes o lápidas.
Contiene su descripción histórica y física, autor, fecha, materiales y
cualquier otro dato que sirva para el mejor conocimiento del elemento
analizado.
Su objetivo es, además de su divulgación, ser una herramienta de
gestión municipal para su conservación y mantenimiento.

Edificios de importancia monumental en los
cinco distritos centrales de Madrid Arganzuela, Centro, Chamberí, Retiro
y Salamanca. Entre otros datos: descripción histórica, autor, época y
grado de protección del Plan General de Madrid y su protección como Bien
de Interés Cultural; Planimetría, Fotografías, otra información
gráfica, bibliografía y referencias documentales.
